Hi, my name is Shelagh. I have been formulating, manufacturing, and selling natural soaps and lotions since 2002.
I have always been a creative maker at heart. But before starting my own business, I worked in IT for 10 years. I left my IT job to focus on raising our four daughters - and it was during that time that I started dabbling in making natural soaps and creams in my kitchen.
My passion quickly blossomed from there. Before I knew it, I was experimenting with different scents and learning everything I could about the benefits of aromatherapy and different holistic ingredients.
My friends and family loved my creations. My daughter, who has always had very sensitive skin, found my soaps and lotions to be gentler than any of the commercial brand soaps we had tried. My other daughter, who is sensitive to synthetic scents, was not aggravated by my essential oil-scented creations. Seeing the benefits of all-natural body products, I decided to turn my hobby into a full-fledged, home-run business.
Since then, my products have grown and expanded to a whole line of soap, lotions, lip balms, sprays and more, for a range of different skin types. I’m always working on a new concoction for my customers, family, and friends.
Creating, owning, and operating McGuire Naturals over the last 20 years has been a wonderful experience. It has allowed me to be at home while raising our daughters while exercising my creative muscle. I have also had the opportunity to meet many beautiful and interesting people who share the same passion for wellness that I do.
Thank you for your continuous support. And if this is your first time visiting my site, welcome.
My mission is to create products that are gentle and healing for sensitive skin, good to the environment, and bring a little affordable luxury to your everyday life.
All of my products are created in small batches in my kitchen. I have chosen to keep my manufacturing small-scale over the last 20 years to ensure that the same quality and care is put into every product as when I started.
My soaps are cured for at least a month to ensure a mild, nourishing feel on the skin. My creams and balms are made in small batches to ensure freshness. When you purchase a leave-on product from McGuire Naturals at a Farmers' Market or craft show, it was most likely made that very week.
McGuire Natural products are registered with Health Canada.
